Our experienced field staff provide third party observations during construction, utilizing a working knowledge of proven thermal, air, and moisture barrier techniques. Our inspectors are knowledgeable and able to make recommendations on site to avoid holding up construction while reports are written. NEXUS is sensitive to construction schedules and understand the importance of reliable and effective observations to maintain quality on construction sites.
NEXUS staff have performed thousands of water penetration tests on multi-family residential windows, storefront and curtain-wall systems both new and old. Being enthusiastic problem solvers, NEXUS has custom fabricated a spray rack mount that allows us to test windows that would otherwise be inaccessible by traditional methods.
NEXUS provides a complete list of performance testing including roof core sampling, adhesion testing, water absorption and moisture metering, acoustic testing, and verifications of thermal performance.
NEXUS staff has performed hundreds of air barrier tests for private and public (municipal, state, and federal) clients for more than a decade. Air Barrier testing per ASTM E-779 fulfills the requirements of the Washington State Energy Code, Seattle Energy Code, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Pressure testing can also be used in conjunction with our infrared (IR) thermography images and theatrical smokers to pinpoint areas of potential air and water intrusion in the exterior building envelope prior to invasive exploratory investigations, many times replacing the need for cutting open the building.
